Pelican Coast respects the privacy of our
members. We never share client information with anyone under any
circumstances. You can rest assured that information you provide to us is
protected and never used except for the purpose for which you gave it to us.
On The Web
We never track your surfing habits individually. We do collect some "most
popular" site data to share with you on places that other people enjoy but
never at the individual user level. We never bury cookies on your
computer. None of our web pages report your activity or track you
identity. We never share your e-mail address with others.
Recent Federal Legislation
Recent federal legislation enacted in 2002, however, does require us to provide
information to the FBI and other federal agencies if requested without
announcement.
SPAM Protection
We attempt whenever possible to intercept unsolicited electronic junk mail also
known as SPAM before it reaches your mailbox. This is a very difficult
process because it isn't easy to interpret what mail you want and don't
want. Typically, we will block e-mail based upon the information in the
REGARDING/SUBJECT section of the e-mail using certain keywords often used by
spammers. We also subscribe to a blacklisting service that identifies
e-mail servers that have a reputation for generating SPAM. Unfortunately,
once in a while, an innocent person that uses one of those e-mail servers known
for SPAM will have an e-mail blocked. This happens to less than 1/100th of
one percent of the e-mail we handle while blocking thousands of SPAM e-mails and
processing tens of thousands of legitimate e-mails each day. We regret any
inconvenience that you experience and encourage you to let us know of any
problems so that we may remedy them for you.
Appropriate Use
If we receive a complaint about the activities of one of our clients by another
user, we reserve the right to investigate and collect information regarding that
activity. Violations of our Usage Rules spoil the Internet experience for
others and will not be tolerated. In instances of illegal activities
discovered as part of these investigations or as required by the above mentioned
federal legislation, we reserve the right to provide that data to the
appropriate authorities without notice to the user.
